Safran is an international high-tech company that has a space division that designs and produces thrusters and propulsion systems for satellites. Safran’s space division also develops technologies for propulsion, connectivity, navigation, timing, optics, and space awareness. Safran’s space strategy includes supporting commercial and scientific missions and reducing launch costs through electric propulsion.
Maurice Mallet, Antonino Mélandri, and Paul Simard de Pitray established the firm “Mallet, Mélandri et de Pitray” in 1896, pioneering the creation of the inaugural airship designed for leisure and tourism purposes. Renamed Zodiac in 1911, the company eventually merged with Safran in 2018.
