Discover how Bridgit Mendler’s Northwood Space is revolutionizing satellite connectivity with advanced ground stations and new tech innovations for a connected future.

Charting a New Course in Space Technology

In an electrifying pivot, Bridgit Mendler — known for her Disney Channel roles — has become a pioneering figure in the tech landscape. Now at the helm of Northwood Space, Mendler is leading a revolution in satellite ground infrastructure, an oft-overlooked segment critical for the future of data communication between Earth and space. The company’s mission? To mass-produce ground stations that will break through current bottlenecks and enable scalable, resilient, and faster connections with a growing constellation of satellites orbiting our planet.

Why Ground Stations Matter

Modern space innovation isn’t just about launching rockets. Satellite technology depends on robust ground networks for everything from streaming climate data to enabling global communications. Current systems are siloed, slow, and struggle to keep pace with the new age of mega-constellations flooding low Earth orbit. Northwood Space’s approach? Treat ground stations as scalable software-defined infrastructure, opening the doors to on-demand, cross-network roaming and real-time data prioritization during emergencies.

The Team, the Vision, and the Investment

Northwood Space has not only scored $6.3 million from marquee venture firms but is drawing top industry talent into its orbit. With Mendler as CEO and her husband, Griffin Cleverly, serving as CTO, the team blends hands-on engineering pedigree with bold vision. Their approach tackles the “last-mile problem” of getting payload data from space to end-users with unprecedented speed and flexibility, whether serving scientists, disaster response teams, or commercial operators.

Making an Impact at TechCrunch Disrupt 2025

The excitement around Northwood Space hit a fever pitch at TechCrunch Disrupt 2025, where Mendler joined space industry heavyweights to discuss the future of orbital infrastructure. The company’s efforts are particularly relevant in an era where giant satellite fleets demand interoperability, dynamic routing, and cloud-native solutions. Mendler’s panel highlighted how milliseconds matter — shaving down delivery times from sensor to customer can spell the difference between a pilot program and a major contract.

A Breakout Moment for Satellite Connectivity

As global demand for satellite data surges, Northwood Space is positioned to turn ground station scaling into a competitive advantage. With cutting-edge automation for dynamic pass allocation and time-sensitive queueing, Northwood is ready to unlock new applications in space defense, artificial gravity, Earth observation, and beyond.
Mendler’s transition from TV stardom to top-tier technologist is far more than a novelty — it’s a beacon for a new wave of space entrepreneurship. With Northwood Space, she’s showing that the real revolution may not happen on a rocket pad, but in the invisible lines of connectivity that tie our planet to the stars.
