Zcash

Zcash, a privacy-focused cryptocurrency, based on Bitcoin’s codebase, Zcash shares many similarities with Bitcoin, such as a fixed total supply of 21 million units. However, it sets itself apart with its emphasis on privacy and anonymity.

Zcash transactions can be transparent, similar to Bitcoin transactions, or they can be shielded, which use a type of zero-knowledge proof to provide anonymity. This feature, known as “zk-SNARK”, provides anonymity to the coin holders in the transaction. Zcash coins are either in a transparent pool or a shielded pool.
