Maxar Technologies

Maxar Technologies is a company engaged in the creation, development, and experimentation of solutions catering to space-based communications, robotics, power and propulsion systems, Earth observation, exploration, as well as on-orbit servicing and assembly. The company serves mining, mobility, and logistics sectors, and commercial and government organizations including communication satellite operators, communication satellite manufacturers, government agencies, and space markets.

The company was originally founded in 1969 in Canada and was called MacDonald, Dettwiler, and Associates (MDA) and focused on electronic, information, and communications technologies. In 2017, MacDonald, Dettwiler, and Associates (MDA) purchased DigitalGlobe and renamed the company Maxar Technologies.

Advent International, a U.S. private equity firm, along with minority investor British Columbia Investment Management Corp, acquired the company in 2023.
