Carbon Robotics is a Seattle-based company that has developed the LaserWeeder, a robot that solves one of agriculture’s biggest problems: weed control. The LaserWeeder uses computer vision and thermal energy to identify, target, and kill weeds with millimeter accuracy, even in high-density crops.
This method of weed control is more efficient than spraying herbicides, hand weeding, or mechanical weeding. The robot uses a combination of robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), and laser technology to effectively and safely navigate through farmlands to detect, target, and eradicate weeds.
