In a major move for the robotics and AI landscape, RealSense has officially spun out from Intel, securing $50 million in Series A funding to accelerate its growth as an independent innovator in AI-powered computer vision and robotics. This transition marks a significant milestone for the company, which has long been recognized for its pioneering work in 3D perception and depth-sensing camera technology.
With investment led by a top semiconductor private equity firm and support from Intel Capital and MediaTek Innovation Fund, RealSense is now positioned to expand its reach across robotics, biometrics, and computer vision. CEO Nadav Orbach emphasized that independence will allow RealSense to “move faster and innovate more boldly,” adapting to the rapid evolution of physical AI and the broader robotics industry.
The fresh capital injection will be used to scale manufacturing, boost global sales, and expand RealSense’s presence in emerging markets. The company is targeting increased demand for autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), humanoids, and AI-powered security solutions. RealSense’s depth cameras are already embedded in 60% of the world’s AMRs and humanoid robots, serving over 3,000 active customers worldwide.
RealSense is not just sticking to robotics. The company is also expanding into biometrics and 3D facial recognition for security, airport screening, and access control systems. Their latest product, the D555 depth camera, leverages fifth-generation processing and built-in AI features to enable machines to interpret their environments more intelligently and securely.
As automation and embodied artificial intelligence (AI) become central to modern industry, RealSense is doubling down on its mission to integrate robotics and AI into everyday life safely. Orbach describes the company’s vision as amplifying human potential—removing danger and drudgery from work, while ensuring intelligent vision systems remain secure and reliable.
With its headquarters in the U.S. and manufacturing operations in Asia, RealSense is now poised to lead the next wave of innovation in AI vision, robotics, and biometrics—a true testament to the growing importance of intelligent automation in shaping the future.
